About Us

History

Bart McCorquodale, a native of Jackson, Alabama, was working at a manufacturing company in New York City when he began hearing frequent complaints from various companies about how hard it was to move antiques and major furniture pieces in the Southeast. In 1995, McCorquodale decided to respond to those concerns and start a moving company of his own in Birmingham, AL.

At the company’s onset, many online retailers such as Restoration Hardware, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and Crate and Barrel were in their infancy and needed delivery services, which gave McCorquodale Transfer an industry “in.” Soon, McCorquodale Transfer began shipping antique furniture and moving household goods, as well as expanding its services into other areas of the South.

From high-end antiques, McCorquodale Transfer soon broadened its scope to a variety of services, including warehouse storage and both affordable residential and commercial moving on a wide range of scales. Its success, according to Bart McCorquodale, is in the way the company is run: “just as a family business would be.” McCorquodale Transfer now has offices in several locations throughout the Southeast. From Our Clients

Such a great experience yesterday. Each member of the crew I had yesterday was so accommodating and had exceptional manners. I was very impressed.

Thanks,

T. Hazelrig

Our move went very well. The team you sent went about their work in a very methodical, professional way. They worked efficiently and handled our varied possessions (fragile dishes to heavy equipment) carefully and without hesitation.

Thanks for the good service.
