Members of BOMA Alabama (including McCorquodale Transfer) accomplished another successful work-day for a family of seven on Thursday, September 7th 2017. We had a record 23 volunteers this year, a BOMA Alabama record! The Habitat supervisor had two objectives for our group this year – landscaping and inside cleanup.
The landscaping volunteers sodded the front and side lawn and seeded the back lawn with a coat of straw on top to hold the seed in place. A flowerbed was also edged in the front, filled with beautiful plants, and topped with mulch.
Volunteers on the inside of the home worked on caulking, painting, and cleaning. This crew finished up the main and basement floors. So, the inside is ready for carpet, appliances, and a move-in!
Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham is a hand-up for families in need of affordable housing solutions. Thousands of volunteers donate their time, expertise, and resources to Habitat every year, including BOMA Alabama and McCorquodale Transfer. In only a few weeks, a family of seven will have a new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity Greater Birmingham, various donations, and volunteers trying to make a difference.
